Okay, well.

That was an *experiment* and I can't say it went too poorly? But also wow this is held together by gravity and prayer.

Remember Edgar? It's been sitting there almost totally unarmed since I build it and I really wanted it to have Final Boss Energy for the display.

So, one pair of adapters from my wolves, one lightly-disassembled wild weasel base, and one pair of charged particle beam-firing buster claws for its back.

Edgar is now my Manticore Liger*

A macro photograph of the singular piece left over on both of Beatrix's command wolves' E sprues. One side is a hollow 5mm peg, while the other side is a 3mm peg. They're different colours, but they're also small and will be mostly hidden by the pieces they're attaching so it's fine.
A photograph of the wild weasel base, disassembled. They actual weaponry is already repurposed and will find its final home soon, but the base itself consists of a platform and two "arms" which provide a 3mm peg to mount things directly off of. The first attempt at this customization involved a 5mm-to-3mm hole adapter and using the arms, but the weight strain was pretty bad there as well. Still, on the final version of this I'll probably want to go that route. I'm not sure how to get another adapter like that without buying an entire extra set of booster cannons, not exactly ideal.
A photograph of Edgar, its new weaponry deployed. Edgar itself is a red lion Zoid with gold accents and a brown body under the armour, and the deployed buster claws give it a massive height and width profile. They open up to create a triangular arrangement of silver claws converging on a central point consisting of a gun barrel. The arms connecting them are a little awkward, but fold nicely and can be arranged to give them a decent amount of clearance from each other.
A photograph of Edgar with its blades stowed. They close to create a long, vaguely pointed 'spearhead' shape that's tilted back along the body, while the arms are set into a shape that evokes folded bird wings. They don't sit nicely along the back on top as they "should" due to clearances with the bits keeping them attached, and the claws end up awkwardly close to each other considering the small amount of clearance between them. It looks neat but this was a VERY fragile equilibrium that only held barely long enough to get the picture taken.

Long story short the pegs on the adapters (and the holes on the WW, for that matter) are just too short for this kind of weight, so you basically have to pull everything off of it to pose, and then getting it back on can be kind of a chore.

I'll most likely just take them off for now, and go back to the drawing board. I have an adapter that lets me use the "arms" of the wild weasel to attach the buster claw arms, and it looks pretty good! But I have exactly *one* of those.
