Question for #mobilelinux ppl out there:
is there any device rn that supports
- PostmarketOS
- Has *fully functioning calling*
- and has a *working* camera?
My wife said she willing to give a linux phone a try, but she isn't willing to have her phone *not be able to phone*
I would get waydroid all setup for her, setup flatpak repo and all that, but yeah, any devices that fit the bill?
She's used my op6t w/ gnome mobile and liked that, but the op6t doesnt do calling for us.
@Wendinope Just curious what is the reasoning behind requiring postmarket os? I’ve been daily driving an FLX1 from Furilabs and pretty impressed with all it can do.
@mpanhans Just bc it's actually *true* linux, whereas w/ the FLX1, it leverages libhybris an hallium, which is cool, but not really *a true linux phone*, imho, ya know?
And I just like pmos, they have gnome-mobile available for images, and seems really stable so far on my 6t. tho I do wish we had systemd
@Wendinope I see, yeah I think it is all about trade offs, and right now for me the FLX1 is hitting the right balance. But I actually have a used P3a in a drawer, given all the recent progress they’ve been making, I might give pmOS a spin soon.
@Wendinope I don't know if you've heard this or not, but if not, postmarketOS is working on systemd support.
@DrewNaylor I have! it'll be exciting to see it, I have some appimages i'd like to throw at it once support drops (some linux apps are only distributed as appimages still, bc.. idk? maybe they don't know abt flatpak
(mainly the software for the GB Operator, since they have arm64 support now! something I bugged them abt early on actually lol)
